About

Early in his life, Matthew Pipkin, began to ponder the makings of a good place. Through his studies of theology, new urbanism and architecture, he began to understand how the places we inhabit shape us. While studying at UVA, he was exposed to the idea that thoughtful design of a place could contribute to a good life. Once out of college, Pipkin moved to Austin and worked as a construction superintendent for a home builder. After a brief stint in construction, he pursued commercial real estate where he was involved in office leasing, investment properties and ranch brokerage. Over time, he has developed a specialty in the hospitality industry.

One of his first commercial real estate clients was Ben Edgerton and their work together in opening Contigo was instrumental in setting the course of Pipkin’s real estate career. Here, he saw what makes a good place. Contigo is a restaurant and gathering spot that was inspired by the family ranch gatherings of Edgerton’s days growing up in South Texas.

Today, Pipkin lives with his wife and young son outside of Fredericksburg, Texas. Here, they are working to contribute to the good of this small but vibrant community.

Pipkin & Co pursues its mission by developing good places and cultivating relationships with those who share our vision and values.
